Manitoba First Nations Wind Energy Coalition

Advancing Indigenous Ownership in Manitoba's Clean Energy Future

The Manitoba First Nations Wind Energy Coalition is an Indigenous-led partnership between Long Plain First Nation, Sandy Bay Ojibway First Nation, Brokenhead Ojibway Nation, and Dakota Plains Wahpeton Nation working to advance meaningful Indigenous ownership in Manitoba's renewable energy sector.

As Project Manager and Strategic Advisor, Waniskâ Services is coordinating coalition governance, partnership development, funding strategies, and engagement with government and industry partners as the Nations prepare for Manitoba Hydro's anticipated 2027 renewable energy procurement.

The Coalition continues to welcome discussions with qualified renewable energy developers and strategic partners who share a commitment to long-term Indigenous ownership, collaboration, and sustainable economic development.

Long Plain First Nation
Strawberry Greenhouse


The Long Plain First Nation Strawberry Greenhouse Initiative is a commercial agriculture and food sovereignty project designed to create long-term economic opportunities while strengthening local food production and workforce development.

Waniskâ Services is leading project development through strategic planning, partnership development, funding coordination, and technical planning. Through this initiative, Long Plain First Nation became the first Indigenous Nation in Canada to become a member of the Canadian Produce Marketing Association (CPMA), creating new opportunities for collaboration within Canada's produce industry.

The project is currently advancing through business planning and technical design, with construction anticipated to begin in 2027, subject to approvals and funding.
